To retrieve a particular record (for viewing or modifying purposes), do the following:
- If necessary, clear the current record by clicking . Note that some forms are specifically intended for queries, and so open with blank fields, if so skip this step.
- Enter search criteria in the fields of the form. The more specific the search, the fewer results it will find. For fields with pop-lists or LOVs (see Entering Data), choose the values as when entering data. For fields in which values can be entered, use wildcard characters (% to represent multiple characters, _ to represent a single character
Optionally, retrieve the most recent query performed by clicking .
Note: Leaving all the fields blank retrieves all records of that type.
- Optionally, to determine the scope of the query before performing it, click . The number of records that will match the query appears below the form. For example:
- Execute the search by clicking . Cancel the search any time by pressing F4.
- The first matching record appears. Use the arrow keys to navigate through the records retrieved by the search.
- Once the data is retrieved, it is modifiable.
